EVERY BAR STOOL HAS A STORY

January 9, 2026

From The Mind of Marshall….you can take the man out of the bar, but you can’t take the bar out of the man.

Verse 1
Neon hums like a tired old prayer,
Clock on the wall don’t care.
Bartender wipes the same damn spot,
Like it’ll fix what time forgot.
Boot heels scrape on a sawdust floor,
Another ghost walks through that door.
Orders a drink he don’t need,
Says he’s fine — but I can see.

Chorus
Every bar stool has a story,
Some are loud, some whisper low.
Broken hearts and borrowed glory,
Drownin’ truths they never show.
From first love to last call sorrow,
Promises they couldn’t keep.
Yeah, every bar stool has a story,
And tonight one’s talkin’ to me.

Verse 2
There’s a ring mark where a left hand stayed,
Before it got slid right off one day.
A tear dried in a whiskey stain,
Still smells like cheap cologne and pain.
Old man Joe swears tomorrow’s it,
Quits for good — yeah, I’ve heard that bit.
Girl in red won’t meet your eyes,
She’s already said her goodbyes.

Chorus
Every bar stool has a story,
Some get told, some just bleed.
Quiet sins and faded glory,
Words no prayer could ever reach.
From busted dreams to borrowed courage,
Last good lies and first good sleep.
Yeah, every bar stool has a story,
And tonight one’s talkin’ to me.

Bridge
Some come here to feel less lonely,
Some just need a place to fall.
Some still wait on someone who ain’t
Ever gonna call.
And every drink’s a memory,
Tryin’ not to drown.
But the truth floats back up,
When the lights go down.

Verse 3
My name’s carved in the underside,
From a younger, dumber time.
Thought I’d outrun my own mistakes,
But they learned how to follow mine.
I’ve been the joker, I’ve been the fool,
I’ve sworn I was done with this barroom rule.
But here I am, same song, same key,
Same damn stool listenin’ to me.

Final Chorus
Every bar stool has a story,
Some end clean, some don’t end right.
Some are hell, some are holy,
Some just help you through the night.
From last chances to last damn chances,
Hope hangin’ on by a thread.
Yeah, every bar stool has a story,
And tonight… I just read mine instead.

Outro
Neon hums like an answered prayer,
Clock don’t move, but I don’t care.
Bartender nods, knows when to see,
When a bar stool’s done with me.
